FAQs

Where do I pick up my registration packet, goody bag, T-shirt, bib, etc.?

Packets will be available for pickup from 3:00 PM until 6:30 PM on Friday at the Visitors Center of The Nature Conservancy’s Nags Head Woods Ecological Preserve and again from 6:45-7:30 AM on Saturday.

The Visitors Center is at 701 West Ocean Acres Drive, Kill Devil Hills, NC.

Can I park at the start-finish area on race day?

There will be NO parking available at the start-finish area on race day. The race day parking area will be located off West Satterfield Landing Rd. in Nags Head (at the southwest corner of the intersection of West Satterfield Landing Road and South Lark Ave). For reference, Kelly’s Restaurant (which has great food and hospitality) is two blocks south of West Satterfield Landing Road on Rt 158. Shuttles will run regularly between the parking area and start-finish area no later than 6:30 AM on race day.

How far is it from the race-day parking to the start-finish area?

It’s approximately 1.75 miles over town streets.

What restroom facilities will be available?

Permanent restroom facilities are available at the race-day parking area. Portable toilets will be available at the Start-Finish area on race day.

You offer a discount on registration to military personnel – does the discount apply to dependents?

We understand and appreciate the sacrifices that dependents make as their sponsors serve our Nation. Active, Guard, Reserve or Dependent – we offer you the discount with our thanks for your service.

Is there a deadline for registration for the 5K?

Registration will be open until the morning of the race, or when 500 runners register, whichever occurs first.

How are the race proceeds used?

This is a charity event put on by volunteers from North Banks Rotary Club. All net proceeds are donated to charitable organizations and youth programs. Please see our Beneficiaries page for more details.

Tell me more about the free beer!

Yuengling Brewery and Coastal Beverage Company are very generous in supporting the race financially and with their great beer. Kegs open at the Start-Finish area for 5K race runners age 21 and older after they finish the race. Beer is available only for runners at the race site. The kegs open again at the Ramada Plaza Post-Race Beach Party for runners and paid party attendees age 21 and older. IDs will be checked.

Can I get lost on the course?

The course is out and back, and there will be race volunteers at turns – It would be very difficult to get lost. Anything is possible, but if you get lost on this course, you will be the first to do so.
